Solid DR Brass Tempering Valves
Hot water tempering valves are commonly installed on hot water units. A hot water tempering valve is a necessary addition to control the water temperature of the hot tap water inside the home and differs from a thermostatic mixing valve.
A hot water tempering valve mixes the hot and cold water using a 3-way mixing action. This prevents the temperature of the water coming out of the taps from being too hot and limits the risk of scalding or a third degree burn.
Hot water tempering valves are preset so that the hot water coming out of the taps is around 50 degrees Celsius. This is a regulation that is set by the relevant building and plumbing code for the local area.
A hot water tempering valve is also designed to keep the water in the hot water tank hot enough to eliminate the risk of bacterial growth inside the tank.
Types Of Hot Water Tempering Valves
At Forge Plumbing, we offer two different types of hot water tempering valves to our customers.
Standard Yellow Cap Hot Water Tempering Valves
Our standard tempering valves with yellow caps are designed to be used on any storage hot water system. They adjust the outlet temperature of the heated water from between 40 to 50 degrees Celsius.
Standard tempering valves are suitable for cold water supplies that range in temperature from 5 to 25 degrees Celsius and hot water supply temperatures between 65 to 85 degrees Celsius.
Standard yellow cap tempering valves have an outlet factory setting of 50 degrees Celsius but this can be adjusted to the desired temperature during the plumbing service installation if necessary.
We have the standard tempering valves for any storage hot water unit available in 15mm and 20mm sizes.
High-Performance Orange Cap Hot Water Tempering Valves
Our high-performance orange cap tempering valves are ideal for solar hot water systems or a hot water heater that operate on a continuous flow. Orange cap tempering valves are also factory set to an output of 50 degrees Celsius but can be adjusted down to as low as 40 degrees Celsius.
High-performance tempering valves are suitable for cold water input of between 5 to 25 degrees Celsius and hot water temperature input of between 65 to 99 degrees Celsius.
Our orange cap tempering valves are also available in 15mm and 20mm sizes.
Both the yellow cap and orange cap tempering valves that we supply have a flow rate of 4 litres per minute.
